NAHC's Annual Meeting & Exposition
Dear Friends,
The 2011 National Association for
Home Care & Hospice
30th Annual Meeting & Exposition will be held in Las
Vegas, Nevada. We can think of nowhere that is a better setting.
It is a great honor and privilege to invite you and the home
care and hospice community to join us at this gathering on
October 1-5, 2011.
The theme for this year is “Leading
the Last Great Civil Rights Battle: Maximizing Opportunity,
Minimizing Risk.” This
reflects the opportunities for home care and hospice to reshape
the health care system as it prepares to receive the 78 million-strong
baby boom generation.
The great gift of all the advances in medicine and technology
we have accomplished is that, humans can now live longer
than ever, but we have seen along with this a ballooning
of chronic illness. Home care is the only answer to serving
the greater needs of these individuals to allow them to remain
active and independent in their own homes and communities,
which is what the vast majority of Americans prefer instead
of institutional care. We believe this is a fundamental right
of all Americans. This is especially true at the end of life.
All Americans should have the right to choose hospice, which
helps to manage pain, settle their unfinished business, and
allows them to truly live their lives fully until the end
of their days -— at home where they overwhelmingly
prefer to be.
